Fix: Safari 1.1 Horizontal Scrollbar Bug in Layout Gala Templates.

Add the following snippet to your Layout Gala CSS to stop the horizontal scroll bar from appearing in Safari 1.1 (caused by the negative margin technique).

#container:last-child:not(:root:root) {
overflow: hidden;
}

(found on BTreeHuggers Blog )

BtreHugger suggests adding it to the body tag but if you add it to the container, the horizontal scrollbars appear as they should when the window shrinks.

    Nice catch, it’s nice to see the hack being used to good effect. Although I doubt that this would be an issue for Layout Gala templates, if your layout’s #container is not the last child of it’s parent element, I would suggest trying:

    body:last-child:not(:root:root) #container {
    overflow: hidden;
    }
